After teaching at Drexel University's College of Information Studies, Paul Thompson joined an AI Development Group at PRC, Inc., and then was a member of the research group at West Publishing Company / Thomson West Group.  Since then he has been at Dartmouth College.  He was also the chief computational linguist at General Dynamics.  His primary research areas include information retrieval and natural language processing.
